A lost gem of ’90s experimental cinema that plays like a late-night public access transmission from another dimension. Rarely screened, this surreal queer sci-fi blends video art and outsider energy into something wholly unique.

“If the B-52s collaborated with Negativland on an alt-Earth version of STAR TREK, it would feel a lot like SUROH: ALIEN HITCHHIKER. A mixed media hallucination from filmmaker Patrick McGuinn. The story follows Paul (Peter Gingerich), a skeptic who embarks on a spiritual, emotional, and sexual metamorphosis with an extraterrestrial named Suroh. Awash in LSD-tinged visuals and a pulsing acid-house soundtrack, this is a beautiful synthesis of experimental video art and queer exploration.”

We’ll open the night with a UFO-themed mixtape, plus a DJ set from Cathode Cinema.

They run black market supplies to Saigon and get embroiled in the war, being arrested as Viet Cong, then later captured by the Viet Cong, and find that their friendship is tested to the limits as they try to escape.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of LA's Poetic Research Bureau, "sister org" Rotations Film Series curates, across two programs that span the day and evening of September 19, moving-image works centering poetry. Funds go to sustaining and expanding the mission of the PRB – presenting poetry and adventurous literature – toward its second quarter-century in Los Angeles.

The Mount Wilson Observatory is an astronomical observatory in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The MWO is located on Mount Wilson, a 5,710-foot peak in the San Gabriel Mountains near Pasadena, northeast of Los Angeles.

#### Join a small group of individuals to observe the Universe through the famous 60-inch Telescope, which revolutionized astronomy and allowed astronomer Harlow Shapley to find our place in the Milky Way Galaxy. The group is limited to just 20 people, so you will have the opportunity to see many objects through this amazing instrument. Tickets are limited to four per registrant.

The telescope sessions are guided by an experienced telescope operator and session director, both with a thorough knowledge of the best objects to observe and the history of the Observatory, to enhance your experience. You are invited to bring any food and non-alcoholic drinks you wish. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are provided. Please bring extra warm clothing, as it is usually cooler on the mountain than down in the valley. Come up and share a spectacular night of astronomy with other space enthusiasts. Forget about the first sixth doors, hell, throw out the seventh because we are going BEYOND all logic centres. Star Lazar Rockwood has been compared to Tommy Wiseau but there's no one quite like Lazar, you will be completely transfixed by Lazar's unique approach to acting and line delivery -and his curiously Eastern European looks. Plus he's wearing a Canadian tuxedo, ie. double denim!

‍What's it about? One last heist! Who lives? Who dies? Who shits? Who eats? Will Boris (Lazar Rockwood) and Wendy (Bonnie Beck, props to her gusto) be able to escape each unique puzzle room of death? *Urthworks* is a trilogy of films by Ben Rivers imagining the future of a planet at three stages after environmental collapse. Working with 16mm film and digital imaging technology, Rivers captures extraordinary real locations in Japan, Tuvalu, Lanzarote, Arizona, the Mendip Hills, and Somerset as well as fabricated environments. Observational images are interspersed with fantastically costumed characters and uncanny ruins. Through these eerily resonant threads, Rivers forges a compelling blend of document and fiction which presents us with forgotten ideas of the future, stranger-than-fiction images of the present, and elemental visions of the distant future that seem to resemble the deep past. *Slow Action* is a post-apocalyptic science fiction film which exists somewhere between documentary, ethnographic study and fiction. Earth in the distant future, when the sea level has risen to absurd heights forming new isolated islands and archipelagos. Two narrators read accounts from a great library of Utopias, describing the four islands seen in the film.

The last woman on Earth, perhaps. Her logbook accounts her struggles with sustaining her world, sanity and dedication to her unforgiving sealed environment. Filmed inside Biosphere 2 in Arizona, it forms a cinematic meditation on ambitious experiments, constructed environments, and visions of the future. The film considers what an endeavor such as Biosphere 2 might mean today in terms of humankind’s relationship with the natural world. *Urth* takes its title from the Old Norse word suggesting the twisted threads of fate.

The film conjures up futuristic beings from an eerie smoke filled landscape and the depths of the earth. *Look Then Below* was shot in the vast, dark passages of Wookey Hole Caves, under the Mendips in Somerset. The netherworld of chambers, carved out over deep time, once held remnants of lost civilisations, now foretell a future subterranean world, occupied by a species evolved from our environmentally challenged world.
